Arcadia Rodentry
We strive to breed the best of the best!
Arcadia Rodentry is a small-scale ethical dwarf rat breeder in Canning, Nova Scotia.Â
AR was created to ensure pet enthusiasts could be supplied with healthy, happy, and properly bred rats. I started my rattery after learning about how few ethical rat breeders there were in the Maritimes. I wanted to create a friendly and reliable alternative to pet stores, as large pet businesses do not deeply care for or properly tend to their animals to the degree that small scale hobby breeders do. I do strongly believe that AR is one of the best places to adopt a small pet from in Nova Scotia. I pride myself in my rat care, and pour so much into these wonderful little creatures’ lives.

EXPERIENCED
I adopted my first rat when I was six years old, and never looked back, finding them to be the best pet I've ever owned. I began breeding back in 2016, initially just to keep my own mischief full. But now I am breeding for the public! :)
I researched for years before opening Arcadia Rodentry, and reached out to countless breeders for hands on experience. This is a true passion project for me, and I hope to create quite a legacy.
I have been a 4-H member for much of my life now, so I grew up with many animals, learning how to care for them, rear them, and breed responsibly with the intention of improvement.
COMPANIONSHIP
Rats are by far one of the most amazing pets I have ever owned. They all have such distinct personalities and are so fun to interact with and get to know. They make amazing companions, and once you adopt your first pair I promise you will quickly want more.
They say rats are like potato chips--you can't stop at just one!
HERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
Even after you've taken home your new rats, I offer full support and am available to answer any and all questions you may have. I am an email/message away, ready to help for the entirety of your AR rat's life, and beyond.
Do you not own an AR rat but still have a question about rat care? Please reach out, id be happy to help!
WHY DWARF RATS?
The first dwarf rat was found as a miraculous mutation in a colony of Sprague Dawley rats in 1977. They are not deformed in any way, they simply don't produce as much growth hormones as your average sized rat. So not only are they smaller (aka cleaner, eat less, create less waste, more "pocket sized"), but they are less prone to tumors and cancer!
